The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr.Chioma Irene Awuzie has reiterated her administration’s zero tolerance for extortion and victimisation of students by lecturers warning that any lecturer caught in such a despicable act will be severely punished.
She urged lecturers to treat the students like their children and therefore desist from victimising or extorting them.
She subsequently placed a ban on payment of license for tractor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering due to its abuse.


The Rector stated this when the school of Engineering paid a courtesy visit to her in her office. She also called for judicious use of facilities in the polytechnic by staff and urged staff to jealously guard and protect these facilities from damage.
Dr. Awuzie further condemned the action of some staff who align with outsiders to demarket the Institution urging them to retrace their steps and instead join hands with her administration to move the Polytechnic forward .
She stated that peace has returned to the Polytechnic and urged all staff to work together in other ro sustain the peace. Dr.Awuzie further assured that she has the interest of the Polytechnic at heart and will work relentlessly to advance development in the Polytechnic. She also thanked the School of Engineering for their support and solidarity.
Earlier , the Dean , School of Engineering Technology, Engr.DrAnthony Umeozokwere who led the delegation, congratulated Dr.Awuzie on her appointment as the substantive Rector and pledged their support to her administration. He praised the Rector for her pragmatic approach to leadership and intimated her of the School of Engineering conference coming up on 14th and 15th August 2025.
