The Ag. Rector,  Dr. Ubaka Chukwugekwu has inaugurated the Council Rectorship Selection Board Electoral Committee with a call on them to be objective and ensure a level playing ground for all candidates in the conduct of the Academic Board and Polytechnic Congregation election billed to hold on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

He charged the committee to restrict their activities to their terms of reference which includes organising a Federal Polytechnic Oko Rectorship Selection Board election in accordance with Federal Polytechnics Act as Amended.

“Remember that this committee is an Ad-hoc committee. Ensure you conduct a credible, transparent and free and fair election. Don’t hold some clauses that don’t hold water. Don’t make the election a difficult one” he warned.

” It is not your duty to appoint the Rector but you are electing people who will be part of the process of interviewing who becomes the Rector.

“You are administratively helping the Academic Board and Polytechnic Congregation to conduct the election ” he explained.

The Committee chairman, Engr. Anthony Ezeudu thanked the management for giving them the opportunity to serve and assured the Ag. Rector that the committee will do their best to conduct an election that will be free and fair.

” We shall do our job without fear or favour and we shall endeavour to conduct an election that will be acceptable by the Polytechnic community” he assured.

The committee has Engr. Ezeudu Anthony as chairman and Mr. Obiora Efobi Victor as secretary.

Other members include: Dr. Ngozi Onwuka, Dr. Obodoeze Joseph, Dr. Onwughalu Vincent and Mr. Obiora Chukwuka.

Comrade Nwafor Amobi and Dr. Chigozie Ezekwere will represent SSANIP and ASUP respectively in the committee while Comrade Ezeokonkwo Mabel represents SSAUTHRIAI.
