BRIEF PROFILE OF DR. UBAKA CHUKWUGEKWU EUGENE

Dr. UBAKA, CHUKWUGEKWU EUGENE is the second child of Fidelis Ugochukwu and Angela Agbodinma Ubaka of Mkpagu village, Ugwuoba, Oji-River L.G.A, Enugu State.  He is married with children. He started his academic career in 1970 at Central School Ugwuoba and did his secondary education at Premier Secondary School Ukehe (1975-1979).

He later proceeded to  Federal Polytechnic Oko, (formerly Anambra State Polytechnic Oko), Anambra State University of Science and Technology (now Enugu State University of Science and Technology) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka respectively, from 1981 to 2010).He holds B.Sc (Acc), HND(Acc), MBA(Banking/Finance), Ph.D(Acc), ACTI, FCTI. He is a Chief Lecturer in Accounting at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State. He is a scholar with several publications to his credit.

He is a member of several bodies including Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Gideons International in Nigeria. He has a number of honors and awards including, the best overall graduating student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, 1986 and received automatic employment from Anambra State Government in 1987.

He has served in several positions in Federal Polytechnic Oko which includes: the Head of Department of Accountancy,  Dean, School of Financial Studies, Director, Special Duties to the Rector, Director, FPO University Degree Programme, and Director in several Units of the School. He has also chaired several Committees in the Institution. He is the Acting Chairman of Needs Assessment Projects Budget Monitoring Committee (2024). He is a resource person to a number of Institutions including National Board for Technical Education.

He has also served in these capacities :President General (interim) for Ugwuoba Peoples’ Assembly/Ugwuoba Development Union-2011,  National President of Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association (2003-2005), and  Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association, (2018-2020).

He is the Business Manager/Treasurer, Federal Polytechnic Oko Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Secretary and Board member, Federal Polytechnic Oko Staff Microfinance Bank Limited Board. He was also a member, Federal Polytechnic Oko 11^th Governing Council (2021-2023).  He worships with the Charismatic Renewal Ministries and a member of Ugwuoba Believers Fellowship.

Dr. Ubaka was appointed Ag. Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko on 1st August 2024. He is creative, organized, and resourceful, accepts challenges, ready to learn and work in a team, hardworking, fears God and pursues peace wherever he finds himself.
