RECTORS SON, ECHEZONA AWUZIE, 79 OTHERS INDUCTED INTO NIGERIA MEDICAL PROFESSION

Dr. Echezonachukwu Favour Awuzie, and 79 other medical graduates of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University were on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 inducted Into the professional community of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria ( MDCN).

Administration of the Physician’s oath was performed by the representative of the Registrar, MDCN, Prof. Fatima Kyari at Histopathology Auditorium, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Anambra state.

The Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha in her address, appreciated the parents and teachers of the newly admitted medical doctors for their support and prayers.

While congratulating the graduating students, she urged them to remember the place of discipline in the medical profession and the need to be good ambassadors of their Alma mater.

While the induction lecturer, Prof. Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Adimma identified professional competence and patients’ autonomy and confidentiality as the ethical responsibility guidelines of medical profession.

HollyWood event centre, Awka, venue of the reception ceremony of Dr. Echezonachukwu Favour Awuzie was filled to the brim as people from different walks of life attended the event.

Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko who was visibly elated, in an interview, thanked the guests for coming to celebrate with her family.

She described Dr. Echezonachukwu as very humble, respective, humane and a son after her heart,

“Echee is a son after my heart. From his birth till now, he doesn’t disturb, he is very calm, quiet, and very respectful.

His six years journey into medical profession wasn’t an easy one but I am happy today that the dream has come through.”

“Today, I am so fulfilled. I have one medical doctor already and today, they are now two in my family to the glory of God.

“I appreciate all that honoured our invitation and wish them well as they journey back to their destinations” she prayed.

In appreciation of his successful induction as a medical doctor, the Awuzie family made presentation of some medical instruments to Dr.Echezona including a free trip to Zanzibar.

Echezonachukwu Awuzie, on his part, appreciated his parents, teachers, siblings and classmates for always being there for him.

“My heart is full of Joy. I appreciate my parents, my father, Chief Fidelis Awuzie ( Vasco Dagama) my mum, Dr. Chioma Awuzie for their support and encouragement throughout my stay in school.

“I also appreciate those that contributed in one way or the other to this success we are celebrating today, especially my sisters, the Chief Medical Director Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Josephat Akabuike and others who impacted my life in different ways. I am grateful to you all”
