Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has supplied numerous essential drugs and other medical equipment to the Medical centre of the institution.
The drugs supplied include: anti malaria drugs, antibiotics, allergen drugs, Amodiaquine drugs, cartons of ORS, syringes, deep pain creams among others.
Rector also supplied some equipment including stethoscopes, BP machines, Thermometers, weighing scale, Accucheck glucometres, Accucheck strips, cholesterol machines and stripes, malaria and typhoid test kits and Hepatitis B and C test kits.
Presenting the drugs, the Rector, Dr Chioma Awuzie said she has been inundated with calls and text messages from both staff and students on the lack of essential drugs at the medical centre.

She expressed worry that some Polytechnic staff who registered Federal Polytechnic Oko medical centre as their National Health Insurance Scheme may have been deprived of some benefits due to persistence of shortage of drugs. She however assured that the situation has now been checkmated.
According to Rector, “Management deemed it necessary to procure these drugs and some medical equipment as earlier requested by the Acting Director Medical Services.
“I therefore implore all the staff and students of Federal Polytechnic Oko and even outsiders to visit the medical centre as we are now more determined to support healthcare systems, address humanitarian crises, and improve patient welfare in this centre.

“We now have all it takes to take care of your health as our health centre is now equipped”
The Acting Director, Medical Services, Dr. Paul Okose, appreciated the Rector and the management for the numerous drugs supplied to the centre.
He commended management generosity, affirming that the supplied items were urgently needed and would be used appropriately to support patients receiving treatment in the centre.

Dr. Okose promised to make good use of the drugs and equipment supplied to the centre.
Present at the centre to receive the drugs include: Pharmacist Sheun Emmanuel, Optometrist, Dr. Mba Chiamaka and other staff of the medical centre. Some management staff of the Polytechnic were also present to witness the ceremony.
