Dr. Chioma Awuzie Foundation (DCAF) has awarded scholarship and charity support to 137 indigent students across six tertiary institutions in Anambra state.

While 19 outstanding students were awarded one-off academic scholarships, 118 of them benefited from the Charity Programme of the foundation.

Making the presentation at the 2025 edition held at Federal Polytechnic, Oko Auditorium, the founder, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie said the gesture heralded activities marking her 52nd birthday anniversary.
She said the 19 scholarship beneficiaries showed exceptional courage and academic commitment amidst personal and financial setbacks.
According to the founder, “These young men and women have shown exceptional courage and academic commitment despite personal and financial setbacks.

” We are also sharing gift items, empowerment tools, and small scale business support with deserving women and youth while feeding and celebrating with hundreds of guests and community members”
Dr.Awuzie listed five key areas of the foundation’s intervention to include educational access, charity and community outreach, women and youth empowerment, healthcare and medical outreach as well as maternal support and childbirth palliatives.
She said, “With today’s award, we bring the number of beneficiaries to over 100 students from six public tertiary institutions in Anambra state. These scholarships are more than financial aid, they are lifelines to the dreams of brilliant, resilient young Nigerians who are simply in need of a chance. We shall continue to invest in higher education for indigent students”

“DCAF has become a force for good; a lifeline for indigent students, struggling mothers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and entire communities.
“This year, our event will include the feeding of hundreds of guests and community members, the distribution of food and gift items to widows and the underprivileged, and support for pregnant women and elderly citizens.
“These gestures may appear simple, but to the recipients, they are proof that someone cares.
While restating the foundation’s commitment to economic empowerment through skills and tools, Awuzie disclosed that it had supported more women with cassava processing machines and startup grants, and donated commercial vehicles to empower unemployed youths.

“This practical support helps recipients start small businesses and become financially independent.
“Following our 2023 free medical outreach that benefited over 500 residents of Awada-Obosi, we are working toward extending these services to other rural and peri-urban communities.
“We have also continued our distribution of childbirth palliatives to expectant mothers, bringing relief and ensuring safer deliveries in our host communities.
“All these efforts reflect our belief that true impact comes when you empower both mind and body; when you nurture intellect, as well as restore dignity.”

Acknowledging the enormity of the responsibility of the foundation, Awuzie called for support of captains of industries, development partners, government institutions, friends of the Foundation and the public to make the gesture sustainable.
“With your partnership, this mission can be sustainable and scalable. We can reach more students, expand our charitable footprint and build a Nigeria where no one is left behind simply because they were born into poverty,” she added.
Earlier, Dean of Post Graduate Studies Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof Moses Chendo who chaired the event commended the benefactor for the gesture.

“Dr Awuzie generosity and passion has made significant difference in many lives. Turning ambitious growths into reality. Providing access to education and homes to families,” he said.
A beneficiary, John Chioma Okoro of Accountancy department, Federal Polytechnic Oko was full of praises to the foundation for coming to their aid at their point of need.
