The Yoruba Staff Association (YOSA) of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, on Thursday paid a congratulatory visit to the institution’s Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, in recognition of her appointment as the substantive Rector. The visit, held in the Rector’s office, was led by the Association’s Chairman, Pastor Adebisi Julius, accompanied by the executive committee and other members.

The purpose of the visit was to express their solidarity and appreciation for Dr. Awuzie’s leadership style and inclusiveness, as well as to reaffirm their commitment to supporting her administration. In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, the Association presented a large portrait of the Rector to commemorate the occasion.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Pastor Adebisi moved the audience with words of deep admiration and conviction. Addressing Dr. Awuzie, he declared, “You are the Moses of our time, you are the Joseph of our time, you are the Esther of our time, and you are the Deborah of our time.” He added, “You came to build and to rebuild, you came to correct, you came to give; not by vengeance but by love. You are God-sent.” A member of the delegation, Dr. Oduwole Olatunde Fatai used the opportunity to extend an invitation to the Rector and the management team to attend the upcoming wedding of her daughter in Awka.

In her response, Dr. Awuzie expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the thoughtful gift. She emphasized her administration’s commitment to inclusivity and unity across all cultural and ethnic groups within the polytechnic community, assuring them of continued collaboration.

The Ag. Registrar, Mr. Dominic Nwagwu, on behalf of the Rector and management, thanked YOSA community and prayed for more collaboration. The visit concluded with a group photograph, marking a moment of mutual respect and strengthening the cordial relationship between the administration and the Yoruba staff community of the institution.
