The Chairman of the 12th Governing Council Federal Polytechnic Oko, Senator Dr. Barnabas Gemade OFR on Wednesday 28th May 2025 commissioned the medical centre at Ufuma campus of the Polytechnic which was completed by the administration of Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie . It is expected that the medical centre which is named Senator Barnabas Gemade Medical Centre will provide medical services for people in the area.
Senator Gemade in his remarks stated that the Rector has made them proud by her eagerness to transform the Polytechnic. He acknowledged that the Rector has brought unity to the polytechnic and has rapidly transformed Ufuma campus. According to him “the last time we visited Ufuma campus, the place looked deserted with bushes everywhere and no sign of life, but that is not the case now as everywhere has brightened up”.



The Council Chairman who also toured the Geological Technological Department building with council members and management team spoke glowingly of the importance of Geology and its impact on the economy. He commended the Rector and the Management team for their efforts in repositioning the Polytechnic and called for maximum support for her.

Dr. Awuzie in her remarks reiterated that a new dawn is being witnessed in Federal Polytechnic Oko courtesy of Senator Barnabas Gemade led Governing Council. She revealed that the Management decided to immortalise Senator Barnabas Gemade by naming the medical centre after him due to his commitment to the development of the Institution.


She further disclosed that her administration has plans to introduce Nursing Technology and Pharmaceutical Technology Departments at Ufuma campus and stated that the place will soon be a beehive of activities. She announced that Geological Technology will soon commence there.
