12th GOVERNING COUNCIL OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OKO VISITS THE GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE

The 12th Governing Council of our polytechnic led by the chairman, Senator Engr Barnabas Gemade OFR has paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof.Charles Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The Council Chairman who described Governor Soludo as the most famous Central Bank Governor revealed that members of the council extended the courtesy of informing him that they have begun work in the institution.

Senator Gemade noted that the Polytechnic is of high repute in the area of technology and training, promising to bring the institution closer and collaborate with Anambra State government to add more value.

“Part of our core mandate is to collaborate with your government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to make Federal Polytechnic Oko grow better than we met it.

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in his remarks called on the Governing Council to ensure that the dream of the founding father of the institution, Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme does not die.

He noted that the initial aim of establishing the institution was to provide technical and practical-oriented training to meet the manpower requirements for the industrial, commercial and economic development of Nigeria.

He therefore charged the new council to remain focused and ensure that this vision for which the Polytechnic was established is sustained.

He congratulated the members of the 12th Governing Council and reminded them of the humongous task ahead.

He stated “Education is a cause close to my heart as it shapes the future of our children and paves the way for their success.

“Federal Polytechnic Oko is a school I am emotionally connected to because I followed the dream of the institution from the scratch” he said.

He however assured of his readiness for strategic partnership with the new council to steer the Polytechnic to greater heights.

The Governor, lamented the general decline in the education sector in the country, particularly in the tertiary institutions and charged the new council to do their bid in revolutionizing the education sector.

He called for concerted effort by the Government, tertiary Institutions and the private sector to salvage the education sector in our nation.
