RECTOR , DR. AWUZIE CONCLUDES HER FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE CELEBRATION WITH SPECIAL THANKSGIVING MASS

Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector Federal Polytechnic Oko has rounded off activities marking her first 100 days in office with a special thanksgiving mass at St. Augustine’s Catholic Chaplaincy Federal Polytechnic Oko. The mass was officiated by Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye, who commended Dr. Chioma Awuzie, for marking her 100 days in office with thanksgiving.

He eulogised the Rector for her outstanding achievements in just 100 days in office and acknowledged that no achievement can be possible without God. The Bishop therefore charged the Rector to always put God first in everything.

The Rector in her address, thanked everyone who joined her in the thanksgiving. She expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Governing Council Federal Polytechnic Oko for the call to serve and promised to live up to the trust reposed in her. While enumerating her achievements, Dr.Awuzie reassured her commitment to quality education, promoting community service, infrastructural development and culture of excellence.

She said, “My administration hit the ground running immediately and has recorded many successes including the completion of the Skills Development Centre, Senator Barnabas Gemade Medical Centre at Ufuma Campus, restoration of regular water supply in the institution, 7% reduction in school fees and the revitalization of the Polytechnic enterprises.

She further stated

“My aspiration is to rebuild trust, strengthen academic excellence, build infrastructure and restore the dignity and pride of the polytechnic”

The mass was attended by dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Chinyere Ekomaru; Traditional Rulers including Igwe Prof Laz Ekwueme Eze Ijikalla II of Oko, Igwe Chika Uchime Diji of Ufuma, Governing Council members of the Polytechnic, Former Rector’s of the Polytechnic, Heads of Tertiary Institutions, Government Officials, Heads of Federal Establishments , Religious leaders, Captains of Industries, Staff, Students and Friends of the Polytechnic.

In her remarks, the Deputy Governor Ekomaru noted that Dr. Chioma Awuzie’s achievements proved that women have the capacity to perform at high levels of decision-making in the country. She showered encomiums on the Rector for her transformational leadership and called for support for her.
