RECTOR ADMONISHES STAFF TO BE GUIDED BY LOVE

The Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has admonished Federal Polytechnic Oko staff to be guided by love in their relationship with one another. The Rector who stated this while giving  her charge at the Ist Tuesday monthly prayer session held at the polytechnic stated that although the polytechnic is made up of people from different background, tribes, beliefs and ethnic groups, however, it is love that unites everyone. She affirmed that love encourages patience and kindness. According to her “every office has its peculiar challenges, however, love helps us to remain patient with one another. A boss should be patient with their subordinates andsubordinates should be patient with their leaders”

The Rector urged staff to be patient with her and reiterated that she will be patient with staff.  She further stated that love eliminates gossip, backbiting, promotes fairness, justice and drives productivity and success. “We should not show favoritism but treat everybody fairly whether students, colleagues or subordinates”. She promised to eliminate the culture of  injustice and victimization. “Under my administration, victimization must come to an end. Nobody will be allowed to use their office to victimize others” She reassured staff that she did not come to witch hunt anybody but to work for the good of all and urged staff to eschew witch hunting, back biting and several court litigations because they take the polytechnic backwards.

The Rector further reiterated that love is not only relevant in the church circle nor in the family setting but is also essential in the workplace “If we love one another through patience, kindness, fairness and understanding, we will build a workplace that is not only productive but also a reflection of the love of Christ.let us commit to practicing love in our daily interaction knowing that love never fails”.After she had finished given her charge, the Rector led staff in a prayer session for the Polytechnic and the nation.  This voluntary monthly prayer which is the first Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie is conducting as Rector of the Polytechnic was attended by a cross section of staff of the Polytechnic.
