RECTOR DR.AWUZIE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE TRADITIONAL RULER OF UFUMA

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Ufuma kingdom, HRH Igwe Chika Uchime, Diji III. Dr.Awuzie who informed the Igwe that she was on the visit with the management team to pay homage and allegiance to him, thanked him for his support and neutrality during the race for Rectorship.

The Rector regretted the neglect Ufuma campus has experienced and assured the monarch and his cabinet that she will bring life to the Campus.

She stated that by next academic session , regular II programme and part-time programme will commence in the campus and further hinted on the take off of Polytechnic farm at the campus.

“We have started Polytechic farm in Ufuma Campus and animal husbandry under School of Agricultural Technology which we hope to expand. Crop forming will equally commence”. She however expressed sadness about the rampant theft in the campus and called on the Igwe to come to the assistance of the Institution by appealing to his subjects to desist from the act.

She also informed that Federal Polytechnic Oko is to benefit from the Rural Electrification Project of the Federal Government with the planned installation of about 3 Megawatt solar system in the three campuses of the Polytechniv

Dr.Awuzie extended appreciation to the Chairman, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Senator Dr. Banabas Gemade for facilitating the approval of the electrification project, adding that the project aims at providing uninterrupted power supply to tertiary institutions.

She further hinted that the Management is proposing mounting department of Nursing technology and Pharmaceutical Technology at Ufuma Campus which when approved by National Board for Technical Education ( NBTE) will increase the student population.

She also informed the Igwe that the Medical centre being constructed at the campus is almost completed and is scheduled for commissioning, while the department of Geological Technology has been presented for accreditation, expressing optimism that the department will scale through accreditation.

She reiterated her administration’s resolve to leave the institution better than she met it, stressing that staff and students welfare will be her priority.

“In less than 100 days in office, this administration has enhanced results computation, facilitated staff promotion, reactivated water factory, built staff sports centre with state-of-the-art facilities, skills acquisition centre and procured equipment for tailoring, block moulding, carpentry and fabrication.

” By November this year, we shall extend free medical services to the indigenes of Ufuma”

The traditional ruler of Ufuma, Igwe Chika Uchime who was visibly elated welcomed the Rector, the principal officers and other staff of the Polytechnic to his palace, assuring her of his continued prayers and support.

He suggested total overhauling of security architecture of the campus and using Ufuma indigenes as security in the area while promising to link the school to his cabinet member who works with Bill Gate Foundation for partnership with respect to the Medical centre cited at Ufuma campus . He expressed confidence that the campus will experience unprecedented development under Dr.Awuzie.
