ASUP COMMENDS RECTOR, DR. AWUZIE FOR HER STERLING PERFORMANCE

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has been commended by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Federal Polytechnic Oko branch for her Sterling performance.

ASUP executive, led by the branch chairman, Dr. Fidelis Odua, during a courtesy visit to Rector’s office said Dr. Awuzie has within two months of her appointment performed beyond expectations.

According to ASUP branch chairman, “In less than two months of her appointment, our members have collected their 2025 promotion letters. Our environment is now very clean. Our members benefited from the rice palliative which the Rector facilitated.

“The projects our Rector initiated are wonderful. She reinvigorated the hitherto moribund school printing press, the school water factory has been resuscitated, the era of examination script scarcity is now over as exam scripts are now available at the school stores” He also commended the work aid programme for students initiated by the Rector and well as the donation of computers to OTM department.

The ASUP Chairman assured the Rector of the maximum support of ASUP. ” we are unwavering behind you. Fully behind you.”

He went on to request for Management support and assistance towards the completion of their secretariat.

He used the opportunity to remind the Rector and the management that ASUP is the only union on campus without official vehicle and appealed to the Rector to help the union procure a bus.
He equally appealed for production of identity cards for staff and support for the ASUP National Delegates Conference (NDC) billed to hold in Abuja by December this year. He requested for management to sponsor some delegates to the conference.

Responding, the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie thanked ASUP executive for coming to felicitate with her.

She thanked God for her emergence and said she has extended the hand of fellowship to ASUP members that contested with her, asking them to join hands with her to move the Polytechnic forward.

” The competition is over. Let us come together and work as one family” she said.

She informed that all staff will soon have Identity cards as the office of the Director Consultancy Services has been mandated to deliver staff and students identity cards.

The Rector reiterated that ASUP is her family and primary constituency. She then pledged to support them in respect of the NDC holding in Abuja. She equally promised to look into the requests made by ASUP to see how Management can assist.
