FG DONATES EQUIPMENT WORTH N30 MILLION TO SURVEYING AND GEO-INFORMATICS DEPARTMENT

The office of the Surveyor General of the Federation has donated equipment worth thirty million naira to the Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics, Federal Polytechnic Oko to aid learning and teaching. The Ag.Head of Department of Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Surv. Samuel Okoli made this known when he led some staff and students of the department on a courtesy call to the Ag. Rector, Dr. Ubaka Chukwugekwu E.

An elated Surv. Samuel Okoli informed the Ag.Rector that they were on the visit to officially present the equipment to the Management and appreciate Management for their support to the department. He stated that the equipment were a fallout of the discussion he had with Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe over the forth coming accreditation exercise which the department is due for later this year. He noted that he was encouraged by Dr. Ezekwe to apply for the equipment after narrating to him the challenges his department was facing owing to lack of essential equipment and his desire to source for support from relevant agencies. Consequently, he wrote to the office of the Surveyor General of the Federation and other agencies for assistance.

He reiterated that the equipment will go a long way in repositioning the department for a more pragmatic learning and will equip the students to have a solid foundation.  He further requested for more support from Management for the department. The Ag. Rector in his remarks, appreciated the Surveyor General of the Federation for his magnanimity and support for education demonstrated by donation of the equipment. He directed for a letter of appreciation to be forwarded to the Surveyor General. He furthermore, acknowledged that the equipment will be a big boost to the department and charged them to judiciously engage the equipment for effective teaching and training of students. Other principal officers present at the presentation were Deputy Rector Administration, the Bursar, Mr. Stephen Udu and Polytechnic Librarian, Dr Nwabu Ezemba. 

The Deputy Rector Administration in a vote of thanks extolled the doggedness of the Ag. Head of Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics and urged him not to relent in his effort to develop the department. He also thanked the Surveyor General of the Federation for his uncommon support. He reiterated that the Management will lend necessary support to the department to ensure that they scale through accreditation.
