AG. RECTOR VOWS TO RESTORE PEACE, UNITY IN FEDPOLY OKO

The newly appointed Acting Rector of our Polytechnic,  Dr. Ubaka Chukwugekwu has pledged to prioritize peace, love and unity among staff and students of the institution.

Dr. Ubaka who stated this at the Extension site auditorium during interface with the staff of the institution noted that his administration will apply the civil service rule and other extant laws for the good of the entire Polytechnic community.

“We are committed to restoring peace, love, Unity and progress of this institution and I enjoin you all to give us the necessary support and cooperation within the six months I will be in the saddle.

“The six months given to me by the Governing council of our institution is pregnant and it’s my fervent prayer that it gives birth to a righteous and peaceful Polytechnic.

“I have received a baton from the immediate past Acting Rector, Dr. Uche Onyegbu and I will transfer it to another person among us here. I pray we use this few months that I will be here to clear the table for the next substantive Rector of this institution.

The Ag. Rector said he will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that peace reins in the Polytechnic.

He used the opportunity to go down memory lane on how he was admitted as a student in the institution in 1981 and how peaceful the institution was then but thanked God that his dream of becoming a Rector of the institution has been realized.

“I applied to be a Rector here in 2019 but that dream was frustrated and recently, I was busy preparing for my retirement and how to get all my retirement benefits before I was called that the 12th Governing Council has appointed me the Ag. Rector. I will give this appointment my best.

He decried the delay in assessing students transcript from Federal Polytechnic Oko and mandated the Ag. Registrar to ensure that no transcript exceeds three working days before the student gets it.

He also charged the verification units, Exams and Records units, Computing unit and Results Printing to become more pro-active with result computation.

He also directed the Director Works Services, Director Physical Planning, and Chief Security officer to ensure that all kiosks and umbrellas used for business activities at unauthorised areas be removed Within 48 hours, adding that academic environment is for teaching and learning and not for business purposes.

Dr. Ubaka also mandated  Heads of units and departments, Deans and Directors to compile  approved revenue and expenditure for their various units and submit to him.
