All programmes are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Federal Polytechnic Oko operates under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Education and is a beneficiary of TETFund interventions.

45 YEARS OF TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE

1979
Establishment
Federal Polytechnic Oko was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of the national effort to expand technical and vocational education across the country.
1985
First Graduating Set
The pioneer graduating class completed their programmes, marking a landmark moment in the polytechnic’s history. Graduates entered key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
1995
NBTE Full Accreditation
All existing programmes received full accreditation status from the National Board for Technical Education, cementing the institution’s national standing.
2005
Campus Expansion
Major TETFund-supported infrastructure development expanded laboratories, lecture theatres, student hostels, and the library complex.
2015
ICT & E-Learning Launch
The institution launched its digital learning platform and ICT centre, bringing blended learning capabilities to students across all schools.
2024
New Programes & Research Center
Launch of new frontier programmes in renewable energy, data science, and entrepreneurship, alongside an applied research and innovation centre.

Meet Our Rector
Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie
(FCSN, FICCON, FCAI, JP)

Dr. Awuzie Chioma Irene is a respected scholar, researcher, and Chief Lecturer in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology at Federal Polytechnic, Oko. She specializes in Physical and Materials Chemistry and holds a PhD from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, along with advanced degrees from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

With over 22 years of teaching experience, she has made significant contributions to research, publishing 28+ journal articles, 34 conference papers, and 11 books. She is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, and the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.

Dr. Awuzie has gained international recognition for her work, including the Best Paper Presenter Award at the International Conference on Science, Technology, and Management. Her research focuses on areas such as chemistry education, renewable energy, water sustainability, and food safety, and she has presented her work at numerous conferences worldwide.

Before her appointment as Rector by President Bola Tinubu, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership in academia, serving in various capacities at Federal Polytechnic, Oko, including:
