RECTOR INAUGURATES NEW SUG EXECUTIVE

The new leadership of the Students Union Government, Federal Polytechnic Oko has been sworn-in and inaugurated by the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie with a call on them to leave behind a legacy that future generations of students will celebrate.

In the SUG election which held recently, Giant Comrade Anuluonye Ifechukwu Joseph of Electrical Electronics Engineering was elected President while Comrade Nweke Kosarachi emerged Vice President.

Other officers are: Comrade Chukwurah Munachi, Secretary General, Dimejesi Marydoris, Assistant Secretary General, Okafor Ifechukwu, Financial secretary, Chinedu Meshark, Treasurer and Nwokpuru Eugene, Public Relations Officer.

Unegbu Chinwoke emerged provost, Okolo Isaac, Director of Transport 1, Ezechukwukaeme Emelie, Director of Transport 11, Joseph Izuchukwu, Director of Welfare, Oguzie Solomon, Director of Sports, and Obilo Makuochukwu, Director of Social.

The newly elected SUG officials were on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 sworn-in by Engr. Barr. Ezeilo Joseph at the Mass Communication Complex, Federal Polytechnic Oko.

Also inaugurated were the SUG Speaker, Students Parliament, Comrade Uzoagbala Chibike Kenechukwu and other parliamentarians, Chief Judge of the Students Union Government, Comrade Ekweali Godwin Chiemelie, Chief Justice, Comrade Nwadike Philip Chidera and other judiciary officials.

While inaugurating the officials, Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie charged them to be remembered as peaceful and responsible ambassadors of the institution.

“Remember that the Polytechnic is your home, protect it. The students are your mandate, serve them. The management is your partner, work with them. We will achieve more together in unity, respect and dialogue than in conflict and division.

“Let your tenure be remembered as one of peace, creativity, accountability and impact. Build bridges, not walls, inspire trust, not fear. Leave behind a legacy that future generations of Federal Polytechnic, Oko students will celebrate”

Rector also used the opportunity to remind the students of management unwavering commitment to zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractices, sexual harassment, extortion and all other forms of anti social vices, calling on them to report to management, any form of abuse, extortion and any dishonest behaviour from any staff or student.

The president, Students Union Government, Comrade Anuluonye Ifechukwu Joseph in his acceptance speech, appreciated his fellow students for the trust bestowed on him to serve as their chief servant.

He assured Rector and the entire management that his administration will work in alignment with Rector’s vision for the Polytechnic, pledging total support, cooperation, mutual respect and constructive engagement.

Comrade Joseph reiterated his campaign promise of introducing innovative transport strategy and improving students’ welfare.

He therefore called for effective communication between the management and students union to enable the students’ leaders serve as true liaison between the students and the authorities.

Earlier, the Director Students’ Affairs, Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha commended the Rector and the entire management for their decision not to interfere in the election and their cooperation that led to a successful and peaceful election.

He charged the new executive to stay focused and lodge any complaints to the office of the labour Relations of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, DSA’s office or office of the Rector for prompt action.
