NATE SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC OKO ON ENGINEERING PRACTICALS

The Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE), Anambra state branch has indicated interest to partner Federal Polytechnic Oko, under the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie for the transformation of the technological and engineering practical initiative of the institution.

The Technologists in Engineering led by their state chairman, Okoloedo Ejike declared their interest during a courtesy visit to the Rector in her office.

The association also seeks the Polytechnic permission in enhancing the engineering students knowledge in technology by organising exhibitions and excursions.

The state Vice chairman and South East Zonal secretary, Engr. Patrick Ugochukwu explained that NATE is a professional body of Practical Engineers regulated by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), with the aim of promoting professional excellence among technologists, engineers, technicians and craftsmen.

He further emphasised that NATE which was Established in 1976 and incorporated in 1988 was set up to foster self-reliance in Technological Development in Nigeria even as he appealed that NATE members working in the institution in different cadres be supported in their professional pursuit.

The association praised the Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie for the massive infrastructural transformation going on in the institution and informed her that the National body has approved her nomination for the honorary fellowship award of the association based on her contributions to the Engineering body in Nigeria.

The association also seeks to collaborate with the institution during admission.

“Based on the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) new road map of catching them young, we implore you to collaborate with NATE as a Polytechnic institution during administration of oath taking to HND 1 Engineering students in the occasion of their matriculation and graduation ceremony of HND 2 as required by COREN.

” After their graduation ceremony, they will be sent for a one year internship in an Engineering Industry. We also wish that your administration will support our polytechnic graduate working in Federal polytechnic Oko during the chartering of NATE Aguata branch both in finance and logistics”

Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie in her remarks appreciated NATE members and stakeholders for the visit and willingness to partner the institution in Engineering practical initiative.

She therefore encouraged NATE members who are academic staff in the institution to always apply for TETFund sponsorship of conferences early enough in order to increase their chances of getting approval.

The Rector assured the Engineering professional body of support where necessary.
