RECTOR DR. AWUZIE FLAGS OFF 2025 STUDENTS WEEK

The Students Union Government of the Federal Polytechnic Oko on 24th June 2025 kick-started the students week with a call on them to stay away from anti-social behaviours and shun late night activities.

The Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie while addressing the students, stated that the institution is strictly anti cultism, insisting that any student caught in such clandestine activities will be expelled.

She encouraged the students to continue to be good ambassadors of Federal Polytechnic Oko by upholding values and integrity of the institution in the campus and beyond.

“This institution is strictly anti cultism. Shun any form of fraternisation with the bad eggs. Anyone caught will be handed over to the police without mercy.

“Stay focused on your academic and personal development” she said.

She appreciated the students for their loyalty and obedience to the management and society at large, urging them to continue to be good ambassadors of the institution.

While admonishing the students she said “take your studies seriously, avoid being out so late at night and don’t hesitate to inform me on any concern through your President or Director of Students Affairs. We have a standard students hostel for you and more are still coming”

The Rector in her magnanimity supported the students week with cash donation. She also donated two desktop computers to the SUG Secretariat.

The Dean, Students Affairs, Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha enjoined the students to always endeavour to work together with the management through dialogue instead of resorting to protest.

He described Dr. Chioma Awuzie’s administration as era of onward progression, expressing optimism that Federal Polytechnic Oko will soon be a reference point for academic excellence in Nigeria and globally.

The President of Students Union Government, Comrade Chinecherem Odumegwu in his address, expressed gratitude to the school management, especially to the Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie for her consistent support to the students.

He described students week as a time for reflection and empowerment of the students.

According to him, “students week is not just a time for celebration but also a time for reflection, connection and empowerment. It is a time to showcase our talent, creativity, unity and diversity through a variety of academic, cultural, social and sporting activities.

“This week is dedicated to reminding us that beyond the walls of the classroom, we are building a community, one that values leadership and friendship.

He beckoned on the students to always uphold peace, mutual respect and spirit of sportsmanship in all they do.

The event was marked by an award presentation to the Rector and other members of the Management.
