The Council, Chapel of Transfiguration , Federal Polytechnic Oko has paid courtesy visit to the Rector, Dr.Chioma Irene Awuzie. The Chapel Council was led by its Chairman , Dr Uche Chukwudire and Chaplain, Rev Canon Chigozie Obiwulu. With them was Comrade C.B Asomugha, the Council Secretary among others.
In his speech, Dr. Chukwudire expressed their pleasure at the visit . He acknowledged the predicament that prevailed in the Polytechnic prior to the appointment of Dr.Awuzie as Rector which was addressed by her coming. He went further to state that the appointment of Dr.Awuzie as Rector was an act of God and urged her to run the affairs of the Polytechnic in a manner that will glorify God.
“we recognise that if God has brought you here,of course He will not abandon you. We believe that in total reverence of Him, you will run the affairs of the Federal Polytechnic Oko so that the developmental strides you had begun will be to His own praise and glory”
The church pledged their support to the Rector while promising to have her in their prayers. “On our own part we pledge our support as a church ,our prayers are with you always”.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the Rector been a home grown Rector is not strange to the environment and cannot be deceived by anybody. “We want to tell you that the environment is not new to you, so there is nothing anybody can tell you about this environment that you don’t know. You know it and you know the right buttons to press and things will go well”.
” The expectations are quite high but the Chapel of Transfiguration is confident you will handle matters as they come and take the polytechnic to higher heights. We have no doubt in our mind as a church that you will do well”.


While responding, Dr. Chioma Awuzie thanked the Chapel for their visit and support. She pledged that she will work for the good of everyone without discriminating. ” I belong to every denomination and will not discriminate” ” I am the Rector of everybody, I am not the Rector of any particular sect. By the way I am doing, everybody will testify that I am not inclined to any particular denomination”
She therefore pleged to support the chapel and be available whenever they call on her.
Dr. Awuzie seized the opportunity to call for prayers for her by the church as she acknowledged the importance of prayer and seeking divine help. She acknowledged that it is God that makes a king and she emerged as the Rector because God said so. She therefore called for co-operation and support from all and sundry in other to reposition the Polytechnic for greater good.

Highlights of the visit was the presentation of a bible by the Chapel to the Rector as well as prayers for the Rector, Management , Staff and Students which was led by the Chaplain. Principal Officers present at the visit include the Deputy Rector Academic, Dr.Nkiru Akabuike , the Ag.Registrar, Mr Dominic Nwagwu and the Bursar, Mr.Stephen Udu.
