The Federal Government of Nigeria has selected Federal Polytechnic Oko as one of six tertiary institutions to benefit from the ICT Experience Center Pilot Project, an initiative under the Office of the First Lady. Notably, Fed Poly Oko is the only polytechnic chosen, thereby marking a milestone in its digital education and technology advancement.
The project officially commenced with a kick-off meeting on March 6, 2025; at the designated site beside the Polytechnic Main Library, where it was formally handed over to the contractor, Infosofia Consulting Limited, by Engr. Olarewaju Ojo, the lead consultant overseeing the development.

Sponsored by TETFund, the project underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to digital literacy and technological innovation in higher education. Speaking at the event, Engr. Ojo emphasized the center’s role in bridging the digital divide and equipping students with 21st-century ICT skills, noting that the project is set for completion within 52 weeks.
Representing the Polytechnic’s management were:
- Dr. Nnamdi Umezinwa – Director, Physical Planning
- Engr. Ogonna Nwokoye – Director, Skills Acquisition and Development Center. He equally doubled as the representative of Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi, Director in charge of TETFund Projects.
- Dr. Amobi P. Chiamogu – Director, ICT and direct beneficiary of the project

The meeting provided a platform to discuss key project goals, timelines, roles, and expectations. In his vote of thanks, Dr. Amobi P. Chiamogu, speaking on behalf of the Rector and Polytechnic Management, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and TETFund for recognizing the institution’s potentials. He assured that the Polytechnic would fully utilize the ICT Experience Center to enhance teaching, learning, and research.
With the project now underway, stakeholders anticipate that the ICT Experience Center will revolutionize digital education at Federal Polytechnic Oko, providing students and faculty with cutting-edge ICT resources, training, and research opportunities.
